L'Wren Scott FW 2013-14 RTW Collection 01Yes, this season it was out with the David Hockney-blue and in with the Gustav Klimt cobalt-blue and above all gold, with the designer lifting the Austrian artist’s iconic symbolist motifs to transform her creations into “walking paintings.”

The concept – explored most literally in the closing group of mosaic-print silk gowns – worked to varying effect. Certain looks were a veritable gold rush (think a slim high-waist gold pant and tuxedo cape in a gold jacquard emulating Klimt’s patterned tiles, with flashes of cobalt blue lining). There was even a 23-carat-embellished gold dress somewhere in the mix. The theme worked best when used sparingly, both on the daywear, with lovely glimmering tailored items in dark purple tweed woven with gold, and for the night. – by
